I am interested in exploring the ways in which the pandemic that we have all been living through is a collective trauma. Lately, many people have been using the word "traumatic" to describe the past year-plus. I want to dive deeper into this topic and consider the ways in which the pandemic has traumatized college students. In 2020 the world changed. For what looks to be forever. When an event to this scale happens, there are bound to be lasting impacts on society. Due to the theme of our course, I plan to focus directly on a college demographic and explain the loss, instability, and damage that has been done to this group. Through this, I will reframe how we think of trauma. Trauma is often associated with assault, natural disasters, war, or other violent experiences. What many people fail to realize is that the current state of our world and the events we have endured as a result of the pandemic, have many traumatic qualities.
